Darren Rowse interviewed me this week about taking photos of people - portrait photography specifically - for a new book he has coming out on the topic. Thanks a lot for including me Darren. You do great work and it's an honor to be a part of it! :)

Since the last time we were there, the Microsoft Tech Days conference has continued across Canada, all the way to Toronto. Following just a few weeks behind the Microsoft Tech Days Conference in Vancouver , the Toronto leg of the Microsoft Canadian Tour was September 28-29. Static Photography was present for the all action and to capture many lively and candid portraits of some of Microsoft Canada's employees.
Microsoft Tech Days was held in Vancouver, BC this past week as part of a cross-Canada tour that Microsoft curates every year. This two day conference was filled with multiple tracks that showcased sessions for developers and technologists that work with Microsoft software. There were six tracks held simultaneously with one bonus track that introduced bonus material for developing within a Windows operating system cell phone. Static Photography was on scene for the conference and Kris Krug had the opportunity to photograph some of the amazing people that helped create the sessions for Microsoft Tech Days Vancouver.
So this week has been full of exciting news for Static Photography! We got the confirmation that we are going to Shanghai, China June 11-22 to work on a book called "China Influence" with Christine Lu. We will be shooting portraits of innovative thinkers and business leaders in China and Christine will be writing about them.
The book will be distributed free online that under a Creative Commons license as well as in other traditional formats.

At Static Photography we not only shoot fashion photography (catalogs, lookbooks, editorial, runway, etc) and music photography (album art, publicity shots, live concerts, etc) but we also shoot headshots and portraits with for all sorts of people, projects, and companies.
The Vancouver Internation Digital Festival, aka VIDFEST, recently hired Static Photography to photography their recent 'Charged Up' advertising campaign featuring several local tech celebrities. The project was a cool mashup of creative talents with concept and branding work being done by Mod7, design and layout by Smash Lab, and the photography by Kris Krug of Static.
Static Photography recently had the chance to do headshots and some fun creative portraits for Vancouver-based country-rock popstar AJ Woodworth . This shoot was so fun... AJ provided her own hair and makeup professionals and we spent a hilarious couple hours working our way from location to location with AJ's rockin' acapella vocals keeping us inspired all along the way. AJ and crew were exceptional to work with... beautiful and energetic and we think the shots show through her awesome personaility and smokin good looks. Lookin' forward to a new album from AJ (and hopefully some free tix to her shows!) here this fall.
We recently had the chance to wander around Gastown and dowtown Vancouver with actor and musician Mark Huculak. He looks like Justin Timberlake and sounds like Akon and he was an absolute pleasure to hang-out with and shoot.
Joseph Briante and Theresa James just started a boutique legal valet service in Vancouver called Hardcore Superstar and wanted to make a big splash.
My friend Andre Charland's (AKA Captain Ajax) company recently underwent a branding change.
Raincity Studios is an awesome web design and development firm here in Vancouver that I've had the pleasure of working with over the past couple years. They're a team of Drupal and Ruby On Rails 'rockstars' as they like to say and wanted street-style edgy photos that represented they're attitudes and projects.
I recently had the chance to shoot photos of the DeSmogBlog team at their headquarters here in Vancouver. They wanted black and white, journalistic style photos that said "We're serious about climate change!"
