Seattle Photography Scene

I'm heading down to Seattle for the majority of the week next week and in preparation I thought I'd look up a few galleries online and see what they're offerering as far as photography exhibits go.

I guess it's a good thing I checked ahead cause I'm having a hard time finding anything that great to go to and I would have shown up at a bunch of places only to be disappointed.

The Benham Gallery, which specializes in local and international fine art photography is currently closed for renovations.

SAM, the Seattle Art Museum that's downtown is also closed for major renovations and won't be reopened until 2007.

I did find an exhibit by Tim Roda at the Greg Kucera Gallery. It's an odd series of black and whites. I couldn't find more info but it looks like the series is following a young boy in day to day situations. From playing with toys and eating breakfast to watching an adult build something or sulking in a mirror. It's not really my style of photography but it looks like it's at least worth checking out.

I'll also be heading off to the Seattle Public Library to do some shooting in the most photogenic building I've ever seen. The shot above was taken when I was there last year and I've been wanting to get back ever since.

I'd love to find a few other shows to check out so if you have any tips - you know what to do.
