Adobe Lightroom

I read last week in the Apple Insider News that Adobe would not be standing idle but stand up to the call of competion and take on Apple's Aperture program. The new program has now been announced and is being called Project: Lightroom and adobe is offering a free beta version of it to mac OSX users.

A few things about Lightroom:

- designed as a virtual light-box and photographer's companion.
- expected to support 100 digital cameras and their corresponding RAW file formats.
- basic colour correction and photo enhancement tools.
-several ways to sort and display photographs.
- will be able to run on far more macs than Aperture can.

From what I've read Aperture has received mixed reviews. While it's said that the new approach to post production with RAW images is awesome, it also gets complaints about it's slow performance and lack of tools and filters.

We'll see how adobe does in the next couple of weeks. I'm going to download the beta version and give it a whirl. I'll let ya know what I think once I've got it figured out!
