Recently the Static Photography team had the pleasure of working with up and coming musician Victoria Herrmann. This shoot was a riot! Victoria is a fun loving spirit with a real passion for her industry. We worked with her expressive personality to create the most fitting and suitable photos. When it came to styling, we had her in multiple outfits to keep her fans interested and intrigued.
This summer the Static team met up with local Vancouver fashion designer Kim Cathers , and shot the new pieces from the mini-collection, Dorthy Goes to the Moulin Rouge. In addition to being an amazing fashion designer kdon is also a wardrobe stylist here at Static Photography. After the shoot we sat down with Kim and got a little insight into the inspiration behind this collection.
In November we had the opportunity to travel to Beijing, China to photograph China Fashion Week 2007 at the Beijing Hotel . Static photographer Kris Krug was on hand for 7 runway shows over the course of three days. Above are a couple of our favorite photos from the weeks events. You can find many others over at kk+'s Flickr account . Look for posts and photographs here from each designer's show at China Fashion Week coming soon. :)
Friends Jon Hennessey and Chantal Hennessey have setup a boutique artist management firm here in Gastown called NOBASURA featuring an amazing lineup of Vancouver creative heavy hitters including Fiona Garden , Shiva Shabani , and Ian Daburn .
Their whole list of collaborators are the creme de la creme (how do you say that en espanol?) of the Vancouver fashion industry and are a pleasure to work with... we've had the opportunity to work with them on a couple shoots including this one for Opulence Magazine assisting Fiona Garden .
Our favorite show of BC Fashion Week was the runway show by Christina Darling . We loved the outfits, the production, the models, the styling... the whole package. All our photos from the show are available over at Flickr and be sure to read Cassie's wrap-up post over at Exposure Online Magazine and excerpted here...
Last week in Vancouver was BC Fashion Week and we had Kris on hand to shoot many of the shows including Anna Kosturova's runway show on Thursday night. More of our photos from this show available over at Flickr . Cassie wrote up a great review of the show that is available over at Exposure Online Magazine and excerpted here...
We shot 6 runway shows last week at BC Fashion Week 2007 . Here's links to the posts that include photographs.
Fashion Week was a ton of fun. We met lots of great Canadian fashion designers and representatives from the local fashion media scene. It was also a great chance to catchup with many of our favorite models, stylists, hair and makeup pros.
One of the perks of being a Vancouver based fashion photographer is having the opportunity to work with and shoot for awesome local brands like Arson . Merging Static's photographic ingenuity with creative director John Chow's stylistic vision was an important goal for the Spring 2008 catalogue photoshoot, and we knew that our awesome models, Jesse Harris and Jules Moore, could pull off the retro-70's look perfectly.
Someone recently left a copy of Androgyny Magazine behind at our studio and we've found it totally inspiring. So inspiring in fact that we quickly pulled together a creative fashion shoot based on the lovely aesthetic of the magazine. Vancouver models Patron and Malloreigh were great... they both had the perfect look for a shoot like this and was a pleasure to work with. Check out the rest of the photographs from this shoot over at Flickr.
The Police recently kicked off their reunion tour here in Vancouver and Static Photography was on hand to take some photos of their dress rehersal. As long time fans of Sting and The Police it was amazing to hear them live (something we never imagined happening) and to be able to photograph them the night before they spin up their world tour. As an added bonus that night we ran into Lawrence Fishburne (Morpheus) at the concert and had the chance to take his photo as well.
Static Photography recently had the chance to do headshots and some fun creative portraits for Vancouver-based country-rock popstar AJ Woodworth . This shoot was so fun... AJ provided her own hair and makeup professionals and we spent a hilarious couple hours working our way from location to location with AJ's rockin' acapella vocals keeping us inspired all along the way. AJ and crew were exceptional to work with... beautiful and energetic and we think the shots show through her awesome personaility and smokin good looks. Lookin' forward to a new album from AJ (and hopefully some free tix to her shows!) here this fall.
