From a beautiful stone path that wraps around the entire city to character houses to some of the best food in the world, Vancouver is a very diverse city. Each of the various neighbourhoods has its own cultural identity, complete with its own landmarks, distinct food offerings and aesthetic. It would be exceedingly difficult to experience all that Vancouver has to offer in one short visit as a traveling tourist. This year is particularly exciting in our city's cultural history with Vancouver's 125th birthday coming in just at the heels of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Our time to celebrate our city as it moves forward with its initiative to become the greenest city by 2020 has come!
Static Photography has teamed with Tourism Vancouver to showcase the various neighbourhoods of Vancouver from a sight-seeing new eyes perspective. Starting this month photographer Kris Krüg will be doing what he does best, documenting the city that he lives in through photo walks and various cultural treks. Each month we will be producing a photo essay that focuses on that month's particular neighbourhood and all that it has to offer. Each individual photo essay will be posted here and on the Inside Vancouver blog Inside Vancouver, as well as all the photos will be posted on the Tourism Vancouver's Flickr photo stream. For more updates - you can definitely check out the Tourism Vancouver twitter feed as well. :)
The first neighbourhood that will be featured will be the downtown area of Vancouver. This will include Robson Street, Davie Street, the Art Museum area, Granville Street and more. In each of the photo essays we will be including photos of the neighbourhood but also fun landmarks, places to hit, notable food establishments and other events that are noteworthy from an exploring tourists point of view.
Static Photography is really excited to start exploring and documenting the city of Vancouver. As a small treat here are some of the best photos of Vancouver and sort of photographic flavour you can expect from our upcoming photo essays.
Welcome to the city of Vancouver!
Make sure to check Inside Vancouver at the end of February for our first photo essay about Downtown Vancouver! This is the year to fall in love with Vancouver all over again. :)
