It was a geek blogging heaven this past weekend in Vancouver when the annual Northern Voice blogging conference stormed the campus of the UBC. Highlighting its sixth year of existence Northern Voice came back bigger and better than ever. Two days with multiple tracks and over 500 attendees, this conference showcased some of the best and brightest in the blogosphere of Vancouver.

Normally the two conference is composed of two different styled. Historically the friday of the conference has always been an unconference style scheduling called MooseCamp and the saturday is the official track of selected speakers from submissions. This year MooseCamp took a year off and allowed for many more official presenters. The session topics ranged from alternate reality games, location based applications, visual note-taking, the interesting world of Chatroulette and even sex-blogging.

Both days featured a keynote speaker to open up the conference, which in the past have always been forward thinking heavy hitters in the Internet/Social Media arena. This year was no different when Bryan Alexander and Chris Messina took the stage. Alexander is the writer behind the Infocult blog which touches upon themes of Gothic presence in everyday life, fearsome media and all around thoughtful insights. Messina, on the other hand, has a different kind of involvement on the Internet, having his hands in establishing the idea of barcamps and co-working spaces. He currently works for Google as an Open Web Advocate.

With the refreshing mixture of keynote speakers, session leaders and attendees, the energy was fresh and forward thinking at Northern Voice this year. Static Photography was on site this year, not only documenting but presenting as well. Photographer Kris Krüg, when he wasn't photographing the conference, was moderating PhotoCamp and presenting/moderating the Olympic Experience panel. Studio manager Danielle Sipple had the chance to present during the sex-blogging panel on the saturday of the conference.
Here are some of the photographic highlights from Northern Voice 2010:
